Hope Arises recruiting volunteers

Local not-for-profit Hope Arises is looking for volunteers.

The organization will hold an information session for those interested at the Huntsville Public Library from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on April 14.

Founder Joyce Crone says they’re hoping to create a volunteer base from all backgrounds, to help with upcoming events such as an upcoming ribbon skirt exhibition in June.

“Fill up the cup, and we’ll fill it up again,” says Crone. “We’re aiming for many volunteers, because we’re not just looking at 2024, but we’re looking at volunteers who will have a commitment for the future as well, and stick with us for a while. Because we’re in it for the long run.”

Crone says that could include manning an information table at an event, helping to roll ribbons, or write grants.

“There have been many in the community that have said ‘how can I help,’ and I think now is the opportunity,” says Crone. “So we’re just looking for people who have a heart, allies both Indigenous or non-Indigenous who want to come out and support our initiatives and support our community.”

According to Crone, volunteers will be added to a mailing list to be contacted for future events and initiatives.

“We’re just hoping our community will respond to the question ‘how can I help?’ We’re ready and prepared for that right now, and so we’re hoping for many people of all ages to come out and see what we’re about, and to get involved.”
