A house fire in Port Sydney has resulted in $400,000 in damages.
Firefighters from the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to the structure fire shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
When they arrived, flames were visible through the home’s roof.
Crews were on scene for approximately five hours, extinguishing the hotspots.

The occupants of the home were alerted by working smoke alarms and were able to get out safely.
Officials say despite their efforts, two family pets perished in the fire.
The cause and circumstances of the blaze are still under investigation.
