We’re going to be getting bitterly cold temperatures in the next couple of days. The Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit wants you to put on the extra layers. Hazard/Vector Borne Disease Coordinator Lori Holmes says with these temps plummeting well below zero, you are at higher risk for frostbite or hypothermia.

You need to make sure you cover any exposed skin before heading outdoors. Holmes says in extremely cold conditions, your skin will freeze quickly.

People also at risk are those who work outside. Meanwhile, it’s not only important to dress in multiple layers, you need to be prepared for travel as well.
