Bracebridge announces new fire chief

Scott Granahan will take over as the Bracebridge Fire Department’s fire chief as of July 17.

“I am honoured and excited to join the Town of Bracebridge as director of emergency services and fire chief,” says Granahan. “I pledge to provide the highest level of customer care with professionalism within the department while continuing to build from the strong foundation already in place.”

According to town officials, Granahan most recently served as the manager of emergency services and fire chief in the Township of Rideau Lakes. Officials cite his extensive skills and strong educational background as qualities that will serve the department and town well.

They say he started his 17-year career with Brock Township and has since worked for the Town of Georgina, Meaford, Mississippi Mills, and Rideau Lakes during his 17-year career.

“On behalf of town council, I am pleased to welcome Chief Granahan to the Town of Bracebridge,” says Mayor Rick Maloney “His extensive background and experience in fire services will help lead our dedicated Bracebridge Fire team and serve the community.”

Granahan takes over from the retiring Murray Medley who told Bracebridge council in Feb. 2023 that his 45 years with the department have been “a hell of a ride.”
