Fundraising to renovate the Baysville Community Centre has surpassed its goal.
Operation Facelift asked community members to match the $25,000 Lake of Bays Council had allocated last year. The effort raised $30,651, for a combined total of $55,651.
The money goes towards upgrades and repairs at the centre such as better washrooms, new floor tiling, and fixing ceilings.
According to Mayor Terry Glover, the next step is to see what other funding is available through the District of Muskoka and other sources.
“We’re extremely, extremely excited and so, so thankful for all your contributions,” says Glover in a video posted to the township’s Youtube channel. “Now our next step, which you’ll all be concerned about, is that we’ve got to start to get organized as to how we could possibly make our money go further, by talking to our upper-tier governments and getting some sort of grants for this wonderful renovation.”
Although the fundraiser is done, the township is still taking donations for the project. You can mail a cheque to 1012 Dwight Beach Road, with “Operation Facelift” in the memo line, or e-transfer [email protected].
“So stay tuned, we’ll be making announcements,” says Glover. “But thank you so much for your wonderful, heartfelt donations. We appreciate it so much. We’re going to make a wicked, beautiful space for you to celebrate in.”
