Enliven Cancer Care Muskoka fundraising Sunday with auctions, social

An art event is raising money to help people living with cancer in Muskoka.

The Art Walk Fundraiser runs 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Grandview Golf Course in Huntsville, raising money for Enliven Cancer Care Muskoka.

Carrie Campbell, chair of the not-for-profit, says the “mix and mingle” event is their first in-person fundraiser since 2019, with both a live and silent auction, live music and more. She says the auctions are generously supplied with art, jewelry, fashion, experience vouchers, and legal services, by local artists and businesses.

According to Campbell, 100 per cent of the proceeds from both ticket sales and the auction will go towards Enliven’s programs for people living with cancer.

“When you hear that cancer diagnosis, you immediately just go within yourself,” says Campbell. “It’s such an isolating experience, and so we realize how important it is to not just be treated as a patient. We want to help people not lose themselves, to really fully live.”

She says those include standard programs such as counseling, peer support, and crisis support, but also fun activities such as birdwatching and yoga. “Just places where people can get out of their heads, really live and enjoy any of the activities that helps their soul,” she says.

You can buy tickets to the event or make a donation to Enliven at the organization’s website.
