Broken watermain in Huntsville Wednesday afternoon

UPDATED Oct. 19: Service has been restored.

A watermain has broken in Huntsville.

District of Muskoka officials say a contractor unintentionally hit the underground main around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, affecting multiple customers near Florence Street downtown.

Officials say while some residents might experience reduced water pressure and changes in water quality, the water remains safe to drink. They add that crews are on site, and expect to restore service “very soon.”
