The Dwight Lions Club is hoping to dish out some money for Muskoka’s first MRI.
Vice President Richard Gambling says they’ll be serving an assortment of mac and cheese at the Dwight Community Centre from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 18, with proceeds going towards the Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s Focus on Imaging campaign.
“As you know, this is the first MRI they’ll have, and it’s important so people don’t have to travel so far when they need an MRI,” says Gambling. “I think there’s many other clubs and all that raising money for it too. It’s a very important piece of equipment for this hospital and for the community.”
According to Gambling, attendees can sample a wide range of takes on the dish donated by a variety of people.
“Members of the Dwight Lions Club, as well as members of the community and local restaurants, are all donating trays of mac and cheese,” says Gambling. “We’re going to be putting them all on the table so people can compare them and they can vote for their favourite. We’re going to have a friendly competition.”
Gambling says they’re planning for 150 meals, with tickets at $20 per person or $40 for a family of four, through cash at the door or online via the group’s Facebook page.
He adds the club has a lot on the go in the coming months, and is always looking for volunteers. Anyone interested can call Gambling at 705-349-8030.
“We’re always looking for people to join the Dwight Lions,” says Gambling. “We’re losing some members as some of the older members are dropping off. We’ve got quite a bit of new blood, but I’m hoping to build this club to a new level.”
