The Town of Bracebridge is recommending caution as more coyotes have been seen around town.
Officials say the bylaw department has fielded an increased number of calls about coyote sightings in various locations, and reminds residents to keep their distance for their own safety and that of wildlife.
If you run into a coyote, they say to not approach or touch them, and to never turn your back or run from them. Instead, stand tall and make noise, back away, and use a flashlight to scare them off.
They add to keep an eye on children and pets, and to not feed pets outdoors or let them chase the animals. If a coyote is posing an immediate safety threat, call 911.
