A 2.99 percent tax hike has been approved to go along with Gravenhurst’s 2024 budget.
Per $100,000 assessment on your home, it will cost you an additional $16.17 on your tax bill.
The approved budget has been posted on the town’s website.
The town’s operating budget, which covers things like staff wages and maintenance costs, is set at $30.9 million and the capital budget, which supports infrastructure like roads, includes $9.9 million set aside for the 70 projects listed.
Roads make up the majority of the capital budget while some money is also set aside for facilities improvements, vehicle replacement, and special projects like a ward boundary review.
Mayor Heidi Lorenz says she appreciates the long hours staff put in to put everything together.
“Our 2024 budget prioritizes essential services, infrastructure improvements, and community programs, helping to ensure Gravenhurst continues to be a great place to live, work, and have fun,” says Mayor Heidi Lorenz.
Scott Lucas, Chief Administrative Officer, adds staff will keep the recently approved strategic plan in mind, too.
“Staff are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work implementing the budget,” he says. “In all we do, we will keep in mind the three pillars in our recently approved strategic plan: community vibrancy, sustainable growth, and effective municipal services.”
