For and not-for-profit organizations are being encouraged to prepare their applications in advance of the Tourism Gravenhurst grant process opening on Jan. 2.
The application, which can be filled out ahead of time, can be found on the town’s website.
Tourism Gravenhurst is a not-for-profit that was formed as a way to approve and subsequently distribute the grants.
The grants come through the town’s newly implemented Municipal Accommodation Tax. Starting at the beginning of 2023, a four percent tax was applied to hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, licensed short-term rentals, and roofed accommodations offering less than 30-day continuous stays.
The tax is applied to visitors through an accommodation charge on their stay.
