After taking into consideration what residents want, Muskoka Lakes to ready to upgrade 25-year-old Jaspen Park.
Officials say they received “great feedback” including:
- Raised elevation
- Additional climbing features like boulders and a waterfall climb
- Themed local elements
- A tube slide
- A shaded picnic area
According to EngageMuskokaLakes.ca, it’s expected the playground will be installed between April and June 2024.
According to a report by Corey Moore, Manager of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities, the changes will cost an extra $40,341, bringing the overall cost for the park to $176,947.
The work will be done by Bradford, Ont. based New World Park Solutions.
The township asked for feedback on the proposed upgrades in Sept. 2023. Moore says 67 responded, noting most of the feedback was “very positive.”
When announcing the project, officials said the equipment isn’t up to current accessibility standards and some aspects aren’t age-appropriate.
