Kyle “The Monster” Nelson has signed a four-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The Huntsville-born brawler has won his last two fights. Since joining the UFC in 2019, Nelson has a record of three wins, four losses, and one draw.
Having signed his third contract with the organization, Nelson says he’s one of a small batch of fighters to earn that honour. “I remember I heard once that the average career of a UFC fighter is two to three fights,” he explains. “I’ve had eight fights so far and now this four-fight deal will take me to 12 so I feel pretty good that I’ve been able to hang around this long.”
After his last fight, a unanimous decision victory against Fernando Padilla in Sept. 2023, he called out UFC Hall of Famer Cub Swanson.
Nelson says Swanson is dealing with a few injuries and may not be able to fight anytime soon but hopes he can square up with him before his new deal ends.
A new fight could be coming “pretty soon,” according to Nelson, and with a few more wins he thinks he could be in line for a title fight against the UFC Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.
“It would be undeniable for the UFC to give me a title fight,” says Nelson.
