With the heavy snowfall Muskoka has seen this week, the District of Muskoka warns paramedics may be slower than usual to respond because of the poor road conditions.
In a social media post, district officials point out that when a winter storm hits us, Muskoka Paramedic Services usually deals with an increase in calls, too.
“While this may result in delays, don’t worry, we’ll find you,” the post reads. “But there are ways you can help Muskoka Paramedic Services this winter.”
While shovelling, officials say to make sure the 911 number at the end of your driveway is visible. As you’re digging out, they remind you to take it easy. “Snow removal is no joke,” it says in the post. Officials say to pace yourself and remember to take breaks.
They add to check on your neighbours, especially if they’re seniors or vulnerable in any way.
“Your support ensures a smoother ride for Muskoka Paramedic Services during these chilly months,” the post finishes.
