Cheryn Thoun has been announced as the new chief communications officer and vice president of communications and engagement for the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) in Barrie.
She starts on March 4.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the dynamic leadership team at RVH,” says Thoun. “We are at an exciting time of growth in Simcoe Muskoka and RVH has a strong reputation as a regional and community-based hospital that provides outstanding care, close to home. I look forward to supporting our commitment to patient care and fostering even greater collaboration with our health system partners.”
Since May 2021, RVH’s Code STEMI Protocol has been available for heart attack patients in Muskoka.
Gail Hunt, president and chief executive officer of RVH, says Thoun’s 20 years serving in a similar position with Georgian College will be an asset for RVH.
“She is a values-based leader who is focused on developing and implementing meaningful strategies that improve experience,” says Hunt. “She is joining the team at an exciting time as we continue to focus on community partnerships and enhancing the patient experience.”
