‘Significant damage’ done after fire at Fenner Dunlop in Bracebridge

A fire on the roof of the Fenner Dunlop building at 700 Ecclestone Dr. was contained thanks to 30 firefighters with the Bracebridge Fire Department.

Officials with the Town of Bracebridge say there is “significant damage” to the building but no injuries have been reported.

They say firefighters arrived at the building around 11:20 p.m. Thursday and were able to contain the fire by 5:30 a.m. Friday. Officials say a handful of volunteers remain there as of Friday morning to extinguish hot spots.

When firefighters arrived, the fire was on the roof of the building and was quickly spreading to the interior sections of the structure and its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning unit.

Officials say the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating what caused the fire.
