A new grant from Lake of Bays is aimed at making a healthier ecosystem.
That from township officials, who say the Environmental Projects Grant supports “projects, events, and services that promote sustainability, biodiversity, and environmental stewardship.” That could include native plant restoration, educational programs, community gardens, erosion control, and more.
The grant has three levels: up to $500 for small efforts in conservation, restoration, or enhancement of habitats; up to $1,000 for projects that enhance or preserve biodiversity; and up to $5,000 for “comprehensive projects” to protect, restore, or manage watersheds and water.
“We’re thrilled to launch the Environmental Projects Grant Program, an important initiative giving our community the power to make a real difference and take tangible steps towards preservation and sustainability,” says Director of Planning Services April Best-Sararas. “We invite individuals and organizations committed to environmental stewardship to apply for this Grant Program and contribute to the preservation of our natural heritage.”
Applications are open until June 30 on the township website.
