A 41-year-old is facing charges after police responded to a traffic complaint in Bracebridge earlier this week.
Bracebridge OPP says on June 17 at 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a concern from a person about someone riding an ATV with alcohol openly available.
According to the OPP, when officers arrived, they located the ATV traveling from Monck Road to Manitoba. They attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however when the operator began driving in a “very unsafe manner in traffic”, officers discontinued their efforts out of respect for the safety of everyone.
Shortly after, officers located the suspect ATV operator on foot on Manitoba Street and arrested him. After further investigation, police say he was also wanted on two outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.
The accused has been charged with:
- Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
- Refuse to Comply with Breath Demand CC 320.15(1)
- Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)
- Operation While Prohibited CC 320.18(1)(a)
- Flight from Peace Officer CC 320.17
- Assault Police with Intent to Resist Arrest CC 270(1)(b)
- Assault Peace Officer CC 270(1)(a)
- Obstruct Peace Officer CC 129(a)
He has been held in custody and has a Bracebridge court date for a bail hearing today. (June 19)
