The Community Connect app has been launched by the Gravenhurst Fire Department.
Fire Chief Jared Cayley explains how the Community Connect app, which was designed by First Due, allows residents to share information about their home which will help firefighters better serve them during an emergency.
“When responding to a residence, there is often critical information that would assist in how we respond to that incident,” says Cayley about the new app. “Letting us know who the best point of contact is, if family members have needs that we should prepare for, or even if you have pets we should look out for, can really help us serve you in the most effective way possible when it matters most.”
The fire department’s relationship with the software company started in Oct. 2023 when council looked to streamline the department’s behind-the-scenes technology.
Cayley clarifies the app is voluntary and whatever information is shared is secure and only used to better serve residents in emergencies.
“By providing information about your household that you feel is important for us to know about at the time of an emergency, we can ensure you and everything you care about is protected to the best of our ability,” says Cayley.
The app is available online with separate pages for residents and business owners.
