A pair of consultation sessions will be hosted at Station 1 on 225 Taylor Rd. from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 and 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, July 13.
A survey is also available on EngageBracebridge.ca until July 31.
The 23-acre site is more commonly known as Uffington Park. It was chosen by council in May 2024, despite concerns raised by some residents near where Station 2 is currently located at 3448 Hwy. 118 E. near Vankoughnet, including from one of its volunteer firefighters.
“We feel we’ve been completely left out of the loop regarding our thoughts on the new location,” said Emerson Blackman during the May 15 Bracebridge council meeting.
The relocation process has been ongoing for years but was restarted in June 2022 when Uffington Park was proposed as a potential landing spot.
During the May council meeting, Scott Granahan, fire chief for the Bracebridge Fire Department, said the current structure Fire Station 2 occupies was built in 1982 on three-acres of land with an estimated useful lifespan of 30 years.
“I think this is the right location, right choice,” he said at the time.
