Brent Run Challenge 2024 aims to raise $100,000 for Camp Mini-Yo-We

The Brent Run Challenge through Algonquin Park is returning to raise $100,000 to send kids in need to Camp Mini-Yo-We.

Officials say the father-and-son duo Andy and Connor Montgomery will return to the waters in the coming weeks.

Andy, who was a camper at Mini-Yo-We when he was younger and currently serves on the camp’s Board of Directors, and Connor, a current camp staff member, will be joined by Spencer and Lauren Tamming, a brother-sister Mini-Yo-We alumni team.

“This year, we’re introducing a relay format. Andy and Connor will paddle from Canoe Lake to Brent and back, covering the first 162 kilometres. Then, Lauren and I will take over, paddling the same route. This baton pass at Canoe Lake symbolizes our collective efforts to support a greater cause,” explained Spencer, who is also the camp’s operations director.

Andy Montgomery said they are “excited to push their limits” inspired by the incredible support they have received.

“Each donation is like a paddle stroke pushing us forward, helping us change more lives through the Camp Mini-Yo-We experience,” added Montgomery.

Last year, the father-son duo paddled 162-kilometre nonstop through Algonquin Provincial Park, raising over $100,000, surpassing their initial goal of $50,000.
