Lake of Bays council and staff are thanking the many people who participated in the recent public meeting concerning the townships Road License Agreement program (RLA).
The township held a public meeting regarding the RLA on Tuesday (Sept. 10) to discuss residents’ feedback. Officials share 26 people spoke at the event and staff received 27 written comments. Along with the nearly 70 people who attended in person, over a hundred also watched online.
Officials say the comments and concerns from the public included a lack of transparency, poor communication, unfair financial burdens, distrust and confusion regarding the program, and a need for broader public engagement.
They add council and staff are reviewing all feedback and concerns raised.
“We are committed to evaluating the program comprehensively and exploring potential solutions. Our goal is to address these issues effectively and transparently before the end of the moratorium,” say officials.
Lake of Bays mayor Terry Glover says this is a “solid first step to better communication.”
“Council will reboot this project, and I’m confident this issue will look a great deal better by the end of this moratorium,” says Glover.
The moratorium period is set to end on Feb. 11, 2025.
They add a more detailed response to the specific concerns raised will be provided in a future update.
