Canadian Walk for Veterans hosting 5th annual event in Huntsville

Canadian Walk for Veterans (CWFV) is doing its 5th Veteran Walk in Huntsville this Sunday. (Sept. 22)

The event is happening at 1:30 p.m. at the Legion in Huntsville.

Robert Ehl, Commodore at the CWFV says this year, there will also be a short Motorcycle Ride for any riders out there.

“This year what we’ve done is we’ve teamed up with the Royal Canadian Legion and they have a unit there called the Legion Riders,” says Ehl. “It’s the first year we’ve been recognized as an official location because it’s our fifth year.”

After the event there will also be a BBQ at the Legion where people can buy a burger with proceeds going to the Legion.

He says over the years they have raised money for different charities with different themes.

“This year the money raised through the walk will help go to support athletes so they can travel to the Invictus Games,” adds Ehl. “Last year was to help the families get educated.”

According to Wikipedia, The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.

Ehl says there are two ways to support the event. One is through a donation and the other one is to register and become a team member.
