The SportLab is hosting the 2024 First Responders Run this Saturday, Sept. 21.
The run starts at 9:00 a.m. from the Huntsville Fire Station 1.
Dr. Lowell Greib, co-race director and owner of The SportLab, says the event allows first responders to get together and build some camaraderie in a non-emergency environment.
He says with the run, they are also raising funds for the Huntsville Firefighters Association, who’s co-sponsoring and coordinating the event.
Greib adds they are expecting to see over 50 people participating in the five-kilometre run.
“We run it locally on Hudson’s Bay Trail. And then those first responders come back and have a crew breakfast over at the Station 1 fire department,” says Greib.
He says they have been doing this run and helping the non-profit for six years. Greib adds their goal this year is to raise $1000.
“The reason we do this is to be able to thank our first responders for everything they do in the community,” says Greib. “It’s a great way that I can give back to the community.”
