An investigation into a mischief and destruction of property led to the arrest of three Muskoka residents.
Bracebridge OPP says officers responded to several reports of mischief and destruction of property on Oct. 11 around Salmon Avenue, Manitoba Street and McMurray Street in Bracebridge.
According to officers, the victims reported the suspects had smashed their property, including a vehicle.
They also reportedly entered a recreation centre, caused significant damage to maintenance equipment and stole a vehicle at another residential address.
The OPP says the investigation began on Oct. 12 just after 3:30 p.m. when a police officer spotted the stolen vehicle travelling on Forest Glen Trail in Gravenhurst.
Officers say they tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle attempted to flee.
They add, the vehicle became stuck, and the suspect fled on foot. OPP says officers contained the area, conducted a search of the area and located the suspect with the help of the OPP K-9 Unit, the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and community members.
As a result, a 15-year-old youth from Port Carling, whose identity is protected, is facing the following charges:Â
- Mischief over $5,000 Â
- Theft of motor vehicle Â
- Mischief – obstructs or interferes with use of propertyÂ
- Mischief – destroys or damages property Â
- Obstruct Peace Officer Â
- Dangerous Operation Â
- Possession of property obtained by crime Â
- Flight from peace officer Â
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose Â
- Break, enter a dwelling with intent Â
- Mischief – renders property useless, inoperative or ineffective Â
- Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle Â
The accused was held in custody and will appear in court on Oct. 14. Â
Officers say two additional 15-year-old young people have been identified and will be facing charges as well.
The investigation is ongoing.
