Second annual Bowling 4 Boobs to raise funds for mammography unit

The second Bowling 4 Boobs fundraising event for the Huntsville Hospital is taking place this Thursday. (Oct. 24)

This year’s event is at Riverbowl in Burk’s Falls and starts at 6:30 p.m.

Trish Kruusmagi, development officer of events and community engagement with the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, says the event aims to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“These funds will be going towards the mammography unit,” says Kruusmagi. “The (fundraising) goal is about $3,000.”

Moe Kelso, Advertising Executive at Moose FM Cottage Country and event organizer, says Bowling 4 Boobs is all about coming together to continue the fight against breast cancer.

“I learned about the worldwide Bowling for Boobs events hosted by various businesses and organizations and thought that would be an excellent fit for Moose FM,” says Kelso. “It aligns with our mission to be this community’s centre for information, music and loads of fun.”

Kelso says some of the businesses that have contributed are Riverbowl, Campbell’s Bus Lines, Edmonds GM and others.

Kruusmagi says just like last year, the event is sold out.

We’re encouraging all the bowlers to dress in their best pink and get creative with their costumes and their costume names,” says Kruusmagi.

The event consists of 16 teams of six players each, and according to Kruusmagi, there will be prizes, a raffle and more.
