Officials say at least $500,000 worth of damage was caused by a structure fire on Aspdin Road in Huntsville earlier today. (Oct.28)
The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department says around 2:15 a.m., local firefighters were dispatched to a fire at a single-story home.
Fire crews acted quickly to suppress the fire and prevent further damage, but the roof and the ground floor of the home were completely destroyed.
Officials say while no one was injured, a pet cat died in the fire.

It is not clear if there were working smoking alarms, though officials say crews and neighbors did not hear any alarms from the exterior.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
