Local bonspiel raising funds for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada

It’s Crohn’s and Colitis awareness month and a local resident wants to do her part to help educate the public.

Michelle Robinson, who lives with Crohn’s, is helping to organize the first “Oh Crap! It’s Another Bonspiel” fundraiser in support of the cause.

She says all the money will go to help improve the quality of life for people with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with new treatments, programs and “hopefully a cure.”

“It is $60 per player, and it includes lunch, three games and prizes,” says Robinson. “This is our first one. So, we’re going to see how this goes, and hopefully, this will become an every-year event.”

She says several teams have already been signed up for the event, which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Gravenhurst Curling Club.

“You don’t even have to know how to curl. You can just come, and there’s a stick you can use. It’s great,” says Robinson.

She says they will also have a silent auction, adding two tickets to the Toronto Raptors will be in play.

“We’re hoping to have 48 teens. So, it’ll be a long and busy day but a fun day,” she continues.
