Bracebridge, District declare significant weather event

The Town of Bracebridge has declared a significant weather event due to the ongoing storm.

Officials say public works crews are monitoring the weather and will continue to perform winter maintenance operations on all roads and sidewalks.

Additional time may be required to achieve standard maintenance levels during this time.

The District of Muskoka has also declared it a significant weather event for all district roads throughout Muskoka.

The District says residents are advised to limit all travel on all District roads across Muskoka, unless necessary, until further notice.

As many are still without power, officials are also reminding everyone to visit outages.lakelandpower.on.ca and the Hydro One Storm Centre for updates.

Winter Weather Safety

  • Limit your exposure to extreme cold temperatures, and be sure to check on vulnerable members of the community.
  • Stay off the roads and limit outings to essential travel only. If you need to travel, please drive according to the weather and road conditions and take the necessary precautions to ensure a safe journey.
  • Clear snow away from blue 9-1-1 civic address signs to ensure emergency services can find your home in the event of an emergency.
  • Ensure outside vents for all fuel-burning appliances are clear of snow and ice. Portable generators should only be used outdoors and carefully located to ensure exhaust fumes do not enter the home.
  • Download and register for the Voyent Alert app to receive location-based notifications to your home phone, mobile device or email, and have your 72-hour emergency kit prepared to support you and your family for at least three days.
