Moose FM Christmas Radiothons across Muskoka has raised $163,704 to help the Salvation Army support local families in need.
The two-day radiothon at 99.5 Moose FM Bracebridge raised a total of $131,322, and the one-day radiothon at 105.5 Moose FM Huntsville raised a total of $32,382.
Major Dwayne LeDrew, Corps Officer with The Salvation Army Huntsville, says the funds collected will help pay for their Christmas hampers as they purchase all the items along with the gift cards.
“It will be also used throughout the year of 2025 to help purchase items and to be able to keep our operations running as we help others,” says LeDrew. “I’m excited to see the potential where this money can go and how it can be used here in Huntsville.”
Lt. Brandon Keeping with the Salvation Army South Muskoka Ministries says the funds collected will go to support their food banks in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge as well as their services and programming.
“To be honest with you, it is quite overwhelming to get that kind of support from our community,” says Keeping. “South Muskoka stepped up, and they really support what we do here at the Salvation Army.”
Keeping says they are grateful for the support and are proud to serve the community.
“We take that very seriously,” Keeping says. “We won’t let you down. We’re here to support you.”
LeDrew says they would not be able to make it without the support of the community and our volunteers. He adds donations will always be accepted and can be dropped by 4 Mary Street East or by visiting www.thesalvationarmyhuntsville.ca/donate/
LeDrew says they will also be collecting food donations during Project Porchlight on Wednesday (Dec. 11).
