More children will be benefiting from Food4Kids Muskoka this holiday season thanks to a $46,000 grant.
Officials say the donation was made through The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group’s Learning Engagement and Accelerator Fund (L.E.A.F.).
Michael Fox, Treasurer of Food4Kids Muskoka, says the donation has enabled them to lease a vehicle to service their delivery route better.
“There’s so much food insecurity in this community, and having our own vehicle will make delivery more efficient, allowing us to serve even more kids in our region,” says Fox.
Officials say the L.E.A.F. program has increased its grant funding to $400,000 this year.
Tim Shauf, President of The Commonwell, says they received over $3.7 million in funding requests in 2024, highlighting its crucial role in supporting communities.
“Our L.E.A.F grants are about caring beyond us and beyond now,” says Shauf.
