A Gravenhurst resident has been charged after a fire was lit inside a motel in Bracebridge.
Bracebridge OPP says on Dec. 22, officers responded to multiple emergency calls from an individual at a motel on Manitoba Street between 6:00 p.m. and 1:20 a.m.
According to officers, the individual stated several concerns but was uncooperative with them, adding that they did not find any evidence of the stated concerns.
Police say after extinguishing the fire and confirming the individual’s safety, officers took a 52-year-old from Gravenhurst into custody.
He has been charged with the following:Â
- Arson CC 433(a)
- Mischief – destroy or damage property CC 430(1)(a)
- Public Mischief CC 140(1)(c)
Officials say the accused was held in custody and will appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge today (Dec. 23).
