All that’s left now is for the Premier to go to the Lieutenant Governor to officially kick-off a provincial election.
At a media event in Brampton on Friday morning, Doug Ford confirmed that will be happening next week.
“We will be calling the election next Wednesday,” he says. “I’ll be seeing the Lieutenant Governor on Tuesday.”
Ford says he needs a mandate to fight against U.S. President Donald Trump’s incoming tariffs.
He says if it takes investing tens of millions of dollars he’ll do it.
“We’ll make sure we secure people’s livelihoods and I will do whatever it takes to protect the people of Ontario, in turn, because we’re the engine of Canada, protecting all Canadians,” he says. “We will not back down.”
Ontarians will go to the polls on Feb. 27.
