Conservative Graydon Smith unofficially re-elected

It looks like Parry Sound-Muskoka will remain blue.

Incumbent Conservative Graydon Smith has unofficially retained his seat in Queen’s Park.

Smith collected nearly 47% of votes to edge out the Green Party’s Matt Richter, who garnered just under 42%. Liberal candidate David Innes finished third, while the NDP’s Jim Ronholm was fourth.

Smith will be part of another Conservative majority. Doug Ford and the Conservatives secured a third straight majority government  winning 81 seats.

“I think as a party we were pretty confident we were going to return with a majority government,” shared Smith after the results came in. “We’ve been hearing from lots of Ontarians at the doors both province-wide and here in the riding that people are concerned about what’s happening down south. They want a strong, stable government, a leader that’s going to lead and take a strong position against what’s happening in the U.S and make sure we protect Ontario and protect Parry Sound Muskoka.”

With 25 seats, the NDP and leader Marit Stiles will serve as official opposition.

The Liberals reclaimed official party status winning 14 seats.
