Table Soup Kitchen wins big at Huntsville charity hockey game

The OPP may have bested Huntsville High School in a hockey charity game over the weekend, but police say the true winner was the Table Soup Kitchen.

Heather Cassie, executive director and founder of The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation, says they had an “amazing turnout” with cash and non-perishable food donations.

“It was the first time we’ve been chosen as the charitable recipient for a hockey game,” says Cassie.

She says the volunteers who represented the foundation at the event had a wonderful time cheering the teams and being part of the community.

“We love Huntsville, and we are so appreciative of everybody’s support to help us meet the growing need in our community,” says Cassie.

According to the volunteers, enough food to fill an entire SUV and nearly $350 in cash was donated at the event.

The Huntsville O.P.P. expresses their thanks to teacher/coach Graham Yeo for his hard work in organizing all the students, officials and volunteers. Both teams were treated to a donation of pizzas courtesy of Pizza Pizza in Huntsville.
