Bracebridge welcomes new Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services

There’s a new Director of Emergency Services and Fire Chief in Bracebridge.

According to the Town of Bracebridge, Kevin Plested will be taking the new role tomorrow. (March 28)

Officials say Plested was selected due to his 27-year career in fire services, including 12 years in progressive leadership positions developing a wealth of experience, leadership skills, and commitment to public safety.

Plested says it is an honour to serve as Fire Chief for the Town of Bracebridge made up of highly skilled professionals who work tirelessly to protect the community.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with this outstanding team, building on our strong foundation and further enhancing fire services and community safety,” says Plested.

Kevin joined the Bracebridge Fire Department in 2022 as Fire Prevention Officer where officials say he led fire safety education campaigns tailored for both rural and urban communities, conducted fire inspections, and collaborated with local organizations.

Rick Maloney, Bracebridge mayor, says they are pleased to welcome Kevin into this leadership role.

“His dedication to public safety, emergency preparedness, and community engagement will serve Bracebridge well. We look forward to his leadership as we continue to enhance fire services for our residents,” says Maloney.
