HydroOne says they have restored power to more than 358,000 customers since the start of the storm.
Kaitlyn Forde, spokesperson at Hydro One, says they have crews have been mobilized to support restoration “as quickly and safely as possible” to all their customers.
“We’re hoping today is the first day where the storm is finally feeling behind us, and we can really focus on that restoration,” says Forde.
Chris Litschko, Chief Executive Officer at Lakeland Holding Ltd., says they currently have about 1,800 customers still without power, mainly in Bracebridge.
“The majority of our focus has been on the Bracebridge area,” says Litschko. “Basically, the whole town was out for almost 24 hours, and the crews did an incredible job.”
He says they aim to restore most power by the end of today, but due to extensive tree damage, restoration efforts may continue into tomorrow.
“We have a ton of empathy for our customers, and we’re doing everything possible to get them going,” says Litschko.
He adds they have reached out to other companies in Ontario to help them restore power as soon as possible.
