Schools remain closed on Wednesday

Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) will keep all schools closed tomorrow (April 2).

“The weather we’ve been presented with this year has been challenging for all of us, and we appreciate your partnership in understanding these unique circumstances,” say TLDSB  officials.

They say the TLDSB is still experiencing power outages and storm effects in certain areas, including downed trees and unsafe conditions.

Due to freezing rain warnings starting tomorrow morning, officials have decided to close schools, the Virtual Learning Centre, and child care centres for the safety of students and staff.

In the meantime, the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) says schools in the northern region will remain closed tomorrow  (April 2) and Thursday (April 3) due to ongoing power outages and clean-up efforts.

They say schools in other regions will be open for student learning, adding families should check for bus cancellations before heading to school.

Officials say if buses are canceled due to weather, schools will remain open for student learning.

The closed SMCDSB schools tomorrow include:

  • District of Muskoka: Monsignor Michael O’Leary, St. Dominic, Saint Mary
  • Orillia: St. Bernards, Monsignor Lee, Notre Dame, Patrick Fogarty, Foley

The open SMCDSB schools tomorrow include:

  • Barrie, Innisfil, Angus
  • Midland, Penetanguishene, Elmvale, Victoria Harbour
