Work continues on restoring power

Hydro One says about 192,000 customers remain without power province-wide.

Hydro One’s Tiziana Baccega-Rosa says crews are still out in full force working alongside their contractors and team members from 18 other Ontario utilities providing them with mutual assistance.

“Since the start of the storm, crews have restored power to more than 80 per cent of customers affected however, significant restoration efforts are required to get every customer restored,” says Baccega-Rosa.

She says yesterday’s storm slowed down restoration efforts, adding today’s weather allows for restoration to continue as planned.

She adds power restoration in the most affected areas will continue over the coming days, with the majority of customers expected to have power restored by the weekend.

However, she says remote areas, including customers who can only be reached by water may experience longer delays as road access and falling tree branches are complicating restoration efforts.
