Local candidates in the upcoming federal election are being invited to the Rotary Club of Huntsville’s All Candidates open house.
It’s happening next Wednesday (April 9) at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 232 starting at 6 p.m.
Len Ross, president of the Rotary Club of Huntsville, says they decided to have an open house, to let the candidates talk about why anybody should vote for them.
“The purpose of this is to allow the community to hear first-hand the candidates that are running in the federal election that’s coming up this month,” says Ross.
He says they want to bring the community together to ask questions and be “face to face” with each candidate.
“We’re not supporting any political party. We support our community,” says Ross.
Sor far there are four candidates confirmed in the riding, Scott Aitchison (incumbent) with the Conservative Party of Canada, Geordie Sabbagh with the Liberal Party of Canada, Isabel Pereira with the People’s Party of Canada and Heather Hay with the New Democratic Party.
“This is an opportunity to hear all four candidates and to hear their differences,” says Ross.
Ross adds the event is free to everybody who wants to attend.
