Hydro One launches Ice Storm 2025 Recovery Grant

Hydro One has launched a grant to help impacted communities access essential needs as they begin to rebuild following the recent ice storm.

Officials say Indigenous communities and municipalities can apply for the Ice Storm 2025 Recovery grant, to receive up to $10,000 for restoration and essential needs like food, supplies, cleanup, and shelter.

Meghan Collie, Media Relations Advisor at Hydro One, says so far they have restored power to more than 96 per cent of their customers, but are still witnessing the devastation the storm left.

“With the amount of damage to trees and other infrastructure, some of these communities will never look the same. And these are the communities where we live and work and we care about them deeply,” says Collie.

Collie adds the devastation of the resent ice storm was “immense” and they will do everything they can to distribute funds as quickly as possible as they know the urgent need in these communities.

She adds there is no deadline to apply for now as they know as communities continue their own restoration efforts, their needs will continue to evolve.

“We’re going to remain flexible to best support these municipalities and communities as they continue to assess and uncover damage from the devastating storm,” says Collie.

She also says they are going to work closely with them to best support them as they begin to rebuild.
