The Bracebridge Fire Department has received a $25,425 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to increase lifesaving capabilities in the area.
Officials say this initiative is part of the over $4.1 million donated by Firehouse Subs to public safety organizations across Canada.
Bracebridge Fire officials say the grant was used to purchase a Bullseye Digital Fire Extinguisher Training System, a Dry Chemical Digital Laser Extinguisher and related accessories, which will enhance the community’s emergency preparedness.
Kevin Plested, Director of Emergency Services and Fire Chief for the Town of Bracebridge, says they are grateful to the foundation and the local Firehouse Subs in Huntsville for awarding them this grant.
“The Bullseye Digital Fire Extinguisher Training System will fulfill a critical need within our department and allows us to conduct training indoors or outdoors, any time of the year,” says Plested. “Expanding our fire prevention program to include fire extinguisher training will increase the safety and well-being of our community members.”
According to officials, since 2015, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada has awarded 369 grants, with 18 of those, totaling over $504,000 in critical lifesaving equipment, distributed in the latest grant cycle across Canada.
