The Town of Bracebridge donated more than $18,880 to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation (SMHF) on April 13.
Mayor Rick Maloney delivered the funds, which were thanks to the Best Seat in the House/Buy a Bay campaign that helped raise funds to support the development of the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre.
“This generous contribution is a testament to the incredible support of our residents and businesses. By investing in both a state-of-the-art recreation facility, and our local hospital, we are ensuring a vibrant and healthy future for Bracebridge.” said Maloney. “We are proud to present these funds to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation and contribute to the important work they do.”
The campaign launched June of 2022 and since then, 417 seats and 80 library bays were sponsored by members of the community. Fifteen percent of proceeds were donated to SMHF.
Leah Walker, Executive Director from the Foundation, accepted the donation and expressed gratitude for the community’s generosity.
“These funds will go a long way in supporting vital hospital services and ensuring that our community continues to receive high-quality care close to home,” she said. “This donation is a shining example of how strong community partnerships can make a real difference.”
