A 51 year old Ramara man is up on charges for assaulting police. On Friday just after midnight, Caledon OPP observed a vehicle driving erratically on Regional Road 50 in Bolton. The officers stopped it and say the driver was drinking. Police say the man refused to exit the vehicle and then assaulted one of the officers by striking him over the head. More police arrived and the man continued to resist arrest, grabbing at another officer’s coat. He was then removed from the vehicle and taken to the detachment, where he refused to give a breath sample. The man’s now charged with impaired, resisting arrest, and two counts of assaulting police, as well as driving while disqualified and failing to comply with probation. His vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
