On April 1st, homeowners will need to have a carbon monoxide detector alarm next to each sleeping area in their homes if they have a fuel burning appliance. Same goes for if you have a fireplace or an attached garage. If you are an owner of a multi-unit residential building, a bed & breakfast, or a hotel or a motel, fire officials say you should also contact your fire department for details about the requirements in your building for the installation and maintenance of CO alarms.
