Bracebridge councillors are set to investigate what it will take to increase the speed limit on the Muskoka River between Bracebridge Falls and Lake Muskoka. Currently boats can travel 5 km an hour between the falls and the river’s south branch and then 10 km an hour between where the North and south branches meet and Lake Muskoka. There are a number of factors they’ll look at tomorrow when they meet at Town hall. With the current speed limits, it can take boaters up to an hour to get from Lake Muskoka to the Bracebridge Wharf. Some say this deters boaters from travelling to downtown Bracebridge to eat, shop or dine.
