The province has reached a tentative agreement with lawyers concerning 12 facilities in the province including one in Gravenhurst.
These developmental facilities had recently come under fire for the mistreatment of developmentally disabled invidividulas who were housed there.
The Muskoka Centre specifically was a residential centre for the developmentally disabled from 1973 to 1993.
About $36 million could be distributed to those who were harmed while in these 12 facilities if the agreement is approved by the court.
This will allow claims to be made by individuals who were affected by these facilities and will be assessed by an independent administrator.
