A group in Muskoka is trying to bring the name of one famous Gravenhurst resident back to the forefront.
According to the heritage group, Alexander Cockburn played a major role in bringing tourism to the town of Gravenhurst in the 1800’s.
Mary Storey says Cockburn alos had a hand in 21 more boats being built as well as being a fighter in bringing the railroad to Muskoka.
The group is proposing more culturaly recognition like naming local products after Cockburn as well as putting up more signage in his name.
