Environment Canada has released a special weather statement for the Muskoka region.
Meteorologists expect about five to 10 centimeters could fall by this afternoon, with higher accumulations in localized areas across the region.
Officials warn that snow could be heavy at times causing low visibility on highways.
This is all due to lake effect bands moving through the region.
