It’s Fire Prevention Week in Muskoka.
This is an annual opportunity for our local fire departments to help raise public awareness about important fire safety issues.
Fire Chief of Algonquin Highlands Mike Cavanagh says this year’s theme is “Don’t Wait-Check the Date.”
Cavanagh says many fatal fires happen at night when people are sleeping.
He says smoke alarms don’t last forever.
Fire Prevention Week ends on October 16th.
